Andrzej Olewiński

Andrzej Olewiński is a classical, acoustic, and electric guitarist. He is a versatile musician active in both classical and popular music realms.

 

As a soloist, chamber musician, and session player, he has performed at numerous festivals in Poland and abroad. He has collaborated with leading orchestras such as Concerto Avenna, AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of Tychy, National Opera Orchestra, National Forum of Music Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, Grand Theatre Orchestra in Poznań, and Beethoven Academy Orchestra. In 2023, he participated in a staging of Astor Piazzolla's tango opera "Maria de Buenos Aires" at the National Theatre in Warsaw, performing a solo part on the electric guitar.

 

As a session musician, he has shared the stage with many artists including Kasia Kowalska, Kayah, Organek, Kwiat Jabłoni, Mela Koteluk, Natalia and Paulina Przybysz, Marek Piekarczyk, Kamil Bednarek, Natalia Kukulska, Kuba Badach, Muniek Staszczyk, Renata Przemyk, Igo Walaszek, Anna Wyszkoni, Mietek Szcześniak, Jacek Bończyk, Krzysztof Cugowski, Patrycja Markowska, and Magda Umer.

 

He has collaborated with distinguished conductors and composers such as Marek Moś, Jan Stokłosa, Paweł Lucewicz, Janusz Stokłosa, Mateusz Dębski, and Bartosz Chajdecki. His collaboration with Bartosz Chajdecki resulted in recording soundtracks for TV series like "Chyłka", "Czas Honoru", "Kruk. Szepty słychać po zmroku", and films including "Powstanie Warszawskie", "Jestem Mordercą", "Najlepszy", "Bogowie", and "Różyczka 2".

 

Andrzej Olewiński has been involved with Warsaw's theatrical scene for years, participating in numerous productions at venues like Teatr Rampa, Och-Teatr, Teatr Polonia, Studio Buffo, Teatr Ateneum, Teatr Współczesny, and Teatr Syrena.

 

He is a recipient of a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and has won numerous awards in national and international guitar competitions, including first prize at the International Guitar Competition "Silesian Guitar Autumn" in Tychy.

 

In 2022, his solo album titled "Układanki" was released, featuring original compositions for classical and acoustic guitar. In 2023, the album of the guitar duo Sir Nylon McSteel, comprising compositions by members Andrzej Olewiński and Maciej Papalski, was premiered. In 2024, his second solo album "Electra" was released, the first-ever album featuring interpretations of works by A. Piazzolla, L. Brouwer, C. Tirao, and T. Gubitsch performed on the electric guitar.

 

Since 2018, Andrzej Olewiński has taught guitar at the Fryderyk Chopin Music School in Warsaw. Since 2022, he has been a lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
